David Lipton holds masters degrees from San Francisco State University (Computer Science) and Rutgers University (History).

His interest includes research in history.  Lipton states: "I derive paradigms

and research methods from the study of world history, ethnohistory, and the

 philosophy of history. "

"My regional and thematic interests are in the histories of the Antarctic region,

 Polynesia, the oceans, cartography, geography, and Precolumbian Native Americans

 in eastern North America."
