Maureen A. Dadekian Eckel is an adjunct faculty member at
Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill MA, in the Behavioral
Sciences Department. She has been actively teaching and participating
in campus life there sinceJanuary '96. She had also been an adjunct faculty
member at Franklin Pierce College where she was honored with the
Excellence in Teaching award for '96/'97. Maureen earned a BS in
Education from Salem State College (1980) and an M.Ed. in Counseling
Psychology from the University of New Hampshire (1984).
As a psychotherapist in private practice in Kingston NH, Maureen is a NH
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and
EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) Certified clinician.
She works with DCYF, police, lawyers, family and criminal courts, schools, and churches. Maureen specializes in trauma and PTSD as well as anxiety,
depression, faith-based work including clergy misconduct and abuse,
among many other issues. She works with individuals, couples, families,
and does home-school collaboration. She also does educational speaking.
Community service is an important part of Maureen's life. In addition to
ECCSSA, she is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honor society of
outstanding women educators. She serves as membership chair and songstress
for DKG. She has served on boards with her local YMCA and Red Cross. An
active member in a variety of church work, she is most involved in Safe Church
training for the Episcopal Diocese of MA.
